Benefits include being able to change the measuring rate from slow (one measurement/second) to fast (one measurement/125 milliseconds) and being able to select between two frequency measurement types, characteristic curve A, which corresponds to the way the human ear perceives sound pressure, and characteristic curve C, which measures the low frequency percentage of the noise.
